Auction of "Chen" cancelled

this is shocking...

Christie’s Pulls T. Rex From Auction, Citing Need for ‘Further Study’ - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

but, for my opinion its the right decision and Black Hills is absolutely right.

I am a bit frustrated that the selled did not give the right infos about the T-Rex, no teeth are original, that it is a "cast" of Stan and no one really knows how many bones are original.... When a fossil like this will be offered for sale honesty is absolutely necessary!

Hope the seller will be banned from Auction-Houses

I hope stupid stunts like this might put a damper on insane sales for a bit. A real case of caveat emptor on this one.

Cheers.

I only read about this now. Ive heard about the cancellation before tough. Very sad to read.

What I don't understand, why would they be so stupid to add unique features and bite marks from the skull of Stan to this one?

Everyone knows the skull will be good looked at, and everyone would notice. That just doesn't make any sense to me?

Maybe good that this happened now, so auction houses would raise the bar more for legit materials. Imagine paying millions for something that is not what it supposed to be.

Nobody knows why, but they surely are, which is a good thing.

They just took the available skull replica of Stan and that was it. No further thought. Which is good in that case.

No problem in my eyes, it would not have hit a poor one.
