Beach-combing in Florida

I’ve been finding some interesting pieces on the beaches of NE Florida. New to the area and wasn’t really targeting anything in particular but found a piece of bone and now I’m a bit hooked. Here are a few items. The encased shark tooth is particularly interesting. The white, circular bone may be modern. Not certain about what appears to be a shark vertebrae (center top). Posted the “stem” in the ID forum.

Johnny,

Looks to be some interesting items.  Your should number each, so that they are easier for others to reference.

Usually,we need photos from different angles,  and with lots of bright light, like sunlight  or halogen bulbs.

Here is a couple of the easier one to identify.

Upper left is a section of a deer antler, with those little bumps where it enters the animal's skull.

The vertebra centrum, ...  depends on the holes number , size and shape around the edge...  This is one from a Tiger shark. @hemipristis @Al Dente

Shark verts are tricky.  Not batoid, Squatina, Meg, Hemipristis or mako.  I wish I could help more.  I haven't delved too deep into that particular pond yet...

Yet he says. :heartylaugh:

I’ve got a whole bunch of shark verts and now I want to figure out what they’re from… my big one at least.

Fossils? I dig it. :meg:

Sorry, my mind was elsewhere when I typed my post.  I meant "not mako".  Scratch the reference to "genus Carcharhinus"
