inchesandmiles
This weekend we were at the beach looking for shells and I came across this tooth? Any help with ID? I can't find anything similar in the Florida Fossil Guides, and searching for Tooth ID in florida mainly comes up with Shark Teeth... Location: Volusia County, Florida - Atlantic Coast Beach Scale is in Centimeters
DatFossilBoy
Hi, This isn't a tooth actually. Not entirely sure what it is but it's most likely some kind of coral. Kind regards.
Al Dente
It looks like an eroded barnacle plate, possible a whale barnacle- Coronula. https://www.google.com/search?q=Coronula+complanata&sxsrf=ALiCzsbHVRUGeswZ_IZLdO6pFBnik4UtrA:1669668752234&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwji-_nm4NH7AhWyk2oFHd73CHUQ_AUoAXoECAIQAw&biw=1303&bih=640&dpr=1 2 1
inchesandmiles
@Al Dente I think you are right. Some type of Barnacle from the comparison pictures. I did find some other intact Barnacles around the same area, though the outer texture was quite a bit different.
