So many cool fossils!

Those SD Ammonoids though...  ...

...and those baby gators. :)

Thanks, Frank.

Most collectors running around the show are by themselves, their significant other if them came are at venues that sell jewelry or trinkets.

Thanks

Really did not pick much up.  A couple of very small Spinosaurid hand claws

Interestingly, last Sainte Marie show, I also only picked up just two items I believe: a Dakosaurus sp. tooth from the Boulonnais and a Zarafasaura oceanis propodial. To me that particular show also didn't seem to offer overly much of interest... So maybe it's not just a slow year for these shows, but on the fossil market as a whole after all? I guess we'll see this June - though I'm not sure whether I'll have the opportunity to attend Ste. Marie this year.

Well it's not that there was no material to buy.  Just very expensive or did not have any interest in the item.  I'm getting very close to ending my buying habits as the years move on, so that enters into the equation.  My focus will be on digging.

The high prices of today will impact many dinosaur collectors more than they ever had.  Will be interesting to see what happens to that part of the industry.

I assume the high prices are across the board, and not just dinosaur/vertebrate specimens?

Don

I cannot answer that since I have no references to prior years.  Everyone was just complaining about Dino material

The block is real, prepped and contains 8 T rex teeth.  The great news is that its heading to the Museum in Houston so it will be available to the public to see.

Fantastic!  I will have to keep an eye out for it here.  Thanks for the info.

What I can add from my own experience at Ste. Marie is that prices there were also high for marine reptile remains - much higher than what I've been used to, sometimes twice the price. But, of course, that's still vertebrate material.

This is the Pueblo Gem Show at the Ramada hotel - nice size venue

You will find Moroccan material very similar to the other location I already posted.   In addition very high end jewelry, meteorites, lots of minerals and tons of trinkets

Back door entrance from parking lot

Some of the trilobites are just sad to see. :shakehead:

But there looks like there's a lot of awesome real fossils too! Thanks for taking us all to Tuscon, Frank!

The good news is that they have yet to sell and all key buyers are probably gone.  This venue does has a better lot of mosasaur assemblages

Yes that's good but it probably just means I'll see them and all the other left overs at Denver in September.

I gotta get out to Tuscon one day to see all the best, Denver just doesn't even come close.

That P. currii jaw looks pretty cool - even if it doesn't look pretty authentic! :D

Thanks for taking the time to photograph and share your experience of the show!
:default_clap2:

It must be mind blowing to visit and take time to process what you have seen afterwards. Do you close your eyes and see fossils when back at your hotel at night

I can only think of big conferences I’ve been to with a dizzying array of talks and 1000s of attendees. Planning is important and - shock - horror, time off occasionally to give my brain a chance to catch up!

Its easy for me.. I live outside of Tucson so no planning required. ...just do what I want, when I want and I hit the venues I want to see that day or skip a day or two.

Wow! Quite the indoor adventure trip! Thanks, loads for all the photos and explanations. I don't buy any fossils, but I sure love looking at them and there's quite a bit of impressive material there. Must have been a great pleasure for you though photographing it all must have taken quite some effort.

Thank you for the photos, very informative:Smiling:. Concerning that Edmontosaurus hashplate, there are a lot of predator teeth. I understand reptiles could shed teeth many times, but does that mean their teeth were easily removed? Or they bit with such carelessness the teeth were often broken off? I don't think wolves or lions can afford that
