Suggestively shaped rock.

Either chert or limestone, I think.

I agree.  It looks like I can see a broken edge on the bottom left of the last photo... the insides looks very limestoney, not boney.

Please excuse my ignorance , mainly an arrowhead hunter , but once the minerals replace a bone , can it not crack like stone ?

Where this gas well was put in , there were several suggestive pieces all that sulfur color that were on top of plowed ground .. just in that spot where it was dug deep

Sure it can, essentially the same as a rock would if you were to strike it with another hard object.

fossilized bone would retain structures of the original bone. In this case your specimen doesn’t show any signs of being a bone unfortunately.

Bone will have a sponge-like texture on the inside, which is what @jpc was looking for in the break.

My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs.

Thank you very much .. it looked odd so I picked it up .. that is how I find a lot of Native American artifacts other than just points .. if it doesn’t look natural I check it out . Thank you to all those who chimed in to help !!
