BridgetSawasky
I found this petrified bone on my property in Southeast Michigan. Any ideas?
Fin Lover
I'm not seeing bone texture here. Hopefully someone else can ID. 2 Fin Lover My favorite things about fossil hunting: getting out of my own head, getting into nature and, if I’m lucky, finding some cool souvenirs. digit
Not seeing any bone texture either. The close-up seems to show Beekite rings. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beekite Cheers. -Ken
Ludwigia
I agree with the above comments. This stone has interesting structures on it, probably beekite, a form of chalcedony, as is being suggested and the form is also interesting, but it does not show any obvious texture which would point to bone. Here is a helpful link explaining how to recognize fossilized bone as compared to stone. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. BridgetSawasky
Thank you for the information. I’m not really familiar with fossils etc but when I found this immediately fascinating
