Coprolite identification

CWS

Recommended Posts

Hi, picked this up at Aust today, only looked twice after seeing a video on icthyosaur coprolites found at charmouth. It has a lot of material in and the same pear shape, hard to identify anything expect for one possible shell..

Any help appreciated thanks. Happy new year!

Happy New Year! :)

For me, your specimen looks like a rock or weathered sediment comtaining some shell fragments, but I'm not a specialist in this domain.

Please wait other opinions.

Hi, thanks.

I thought the same, it was really the shape that made me bring it home after seeing someone talking about finding them at charmouth, also the area is rich in marine reptile remains and the sea doesn't reach the spot I found it. But its unusual to find much free from the bed the fossils are in.

Sorry, not seeing any details that would convince me this is a coprolite.
