Bringing Fossils to Life
Some kind of ammonite.
minnbuckeye
It would help to have information and history provided by you. Where was it found. What geologic period is the area known for. Any other fossils found at the site? What size is it? I suspect an ammonite in a concretion but I am unfamiliar with fossils from the UK. Ludwigia
It's definitely a water-worn ammonite. No question about that. But if you want to learn more about it you'll need to follow up on the above requests for more info. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. minnbuckeye
@caterpillar, is the specimen in a concretion or is it so worn that it is smooth?
caterpillar
Yes, it's very worn. Just the middle is matrix. If you remove it, you will have the umbilicus of the ammonite underneath 1 http://www.paleotheque.fr
