Grallator footprint

Recommended Posts

Hi, it would be nice if I could get some opinions on this grallator footprint I purchased as I don’t know anything about this kind of stuff and how to spot if it’s fake, and another thing I’m confused about, if u flip it over there’s another footprint on the other side but it doesn’t match with the over one?

Nice footprints.

Looks like you got 2 for the price of 1.  :)

It occurs frequently that one layer of footprints gets covered over, filled in, and then new tracks are made by different animals, then covered over again.

This creates different layers of tracks from different times. Your first footprint is what is referred to as an over print. The infilling of a footprint, which is a cast of the original footprint.  On the other side, the second is an actual footprint.

Both look real to me.

Very nice cast and print. It always amazes me when  thinking of that fleeting moment the  theropod dinosaurs stamped it’s mark on the mud, alongside river bank . It is astonishing that millions of years later the footprint can be found and understood.

I was given a footcast for Christmas this year from a TFF member it made my holiday .

Here's one of my little treasures. This one's from the now closed Nash dino track quarry in So. Hadley, MS. Ones like these get harder and harder to find, and are usually very pricey.

Better to post on TFF before buying ( try before you buy) if you’re not sure. Much better to ask first but in this case you’re a winner
