GreatHoatzin
I purchased this a long time ago (I cannot remember where) and the seller claimed it was an Elrathia Kingii. As it says on the card, it is apparently “Pre-Cambrian,” although Elrathia kingii originated during the Cambrian. It appears at first glance genuine, but I’d like to be sure. Fossildude19
Completely real. Very common, and no reason to fake them. 1 3 Tim - VETERAN SHALE SPLITTER VFOTM --- APRIL - 2015 __________________________________________________ "In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks." Tidgy's Dad
Yes, it's real. And you are quire correct; Elrathia kingii is a Middle Cambrian species. Quite a nice one, too. 1 1 Life's Good! Tortoise Friend.
Ludwigia
Gunther & Gunther (1981) claim in their paper Some Middle Cambrian Fossils of Utah that up to 1.5 million samples had been discovered over the previous 20 years, so you can well imagine that there's no reason to fake these things. It is the most common of all trilobites in the USA. Although it can only be found at a few selected sites in Utah, one can find up to 500 samples within one square meter. The "Pre-Cambrian" on the card is incorrect and you are correct in stating that it is of Cambrian age. 3 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. digit
Agreed. One of the most plentiful of trilobites so zero reason for this to be faked--simply a bit of misinformation on the label that you can now correct. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elrathia Cheers. -Ken
