ShaneT
Hi Everyone, I've had this shark tooth fossil for 17+ years now and I would love to know which species it's from. I got it from an American relative who said their dad found it on a beach (I'm pretty sure in Florida). If you think further up close pics are necessary I'm happy to provide that. Thanks for your help in advance Shane
Top Trilo
Looks like Otodus megalodon to me. 1 1 “If fossils are not "boggling" your mind then you are simply not doing it right” -Ken (digit) "No fossil is garbage, it´s just not completely preserved” -Franz (FranzBernhard) "With hammer in hand, the open horizon of time, and dear friends by my side, what can we not accomplish together?" -Kane (Kane) "We are in a way conquering time, reuniting members of a long lost family" -Quincy (Opabinia Blues) "I loved reading the trip reports, I loved the sharing, I loved the educational aspect, I loved the humor. digit
Yup, a meg. A bit water-worn with a small amount of enamel peel and some pockets left in the root by piddocks (Pholadidae) and phosphate colored black. Florida would be a good guess to its finding location. Cheers. -Ken 1
