Fossil eye or something else

Hello- I have no idea about fossils but always pick up things up when out on walks- found this at the weekend on a ploughed field in Cambridge. Picked it up as looked like an eye but no idea if thats likely! Be very grateful if any input and hope the photos are sufficient. Great to find this fascinating forum!

Hello Shamelia and welcome to the forum!

Its extremely improbable to find fossil eyes, except for trilobite eyes that where mineralized in life and except the sclerotic ring bones that birds, other dinosaurs and some other groups of diapsida possess.

That said, to me it looks as if the eyelike strucure in your find was part of rather a tube than a sphere. could well be some marine creature like a sponge for example, that triggered the formation of a flint nodule, interesting piece..
