Hi, I’m wondering if it would be a difficult task to remove the matrix/dirt layer off this carcharodontosaurid tooth. I have no experience, but might seem like a cool project?

Would a dental pick, brush, and needles suffice?

All depends if there us any real enamel left and condition of tooth.    You can try damping it with a cotton swab to see if anything comes off.  Also try scraping it lightly with an xacto blade and see if it flakes off.  Looks pretty nasty.
