Mulatto_Zack
Looking to purchase this pair of ammonites from Madagascar but was wondering if they’re really 100% natural or potentially repaired from pieces of different ammonites. I can’t really tell but the back looked questionable!
Ludwigia
They are natural and not repaired, although cut in half and polished and the backs have also been ground down and polished. 1 Greetings from the Lake of Constance. webmasterj
Fully natural versions while very interesting are often not that visually appealing so they are very often cut/sliced/polished. The ones you are looking at don't scream that they have had any obvious unnatural enhancement or repair other than the cut and polish but someone with more expertise on ammonites from that region may be able to give you more info. RJB
Sorry guys. This one has been heavily repaired. Here is what I see. Been put together with some parts of the original and if you look beelow center you can see what has been man made to fill in a missing piece. The back they tried to hide all the repair with fake matrix and lots of little pieces of shell added to the fake matrix. An absolute mess! 4 1
