It is not the same species. Moreover, we do not know if your rule is in cm or inches !

Close. Pinfish (genus Lagodon) have a split crown with a notch in the middle but you are in the right family (Sparidae or porgy). I believe @Al Dente is on top of this one as I'd say it in the genus Archosargus (also a porgy) similar to the modern sheepshead or seabream.
