kayw
Hello! I’m looking for some help finding out what this could be… A few people have suggested a mammal claw, squid beak, therapod(?) tooth or just a piece of flint! Found at Highcliffe beach, Dorset, UK in amongst the shingle and shark teeth. Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
Ginger0412
This is not a theropod tooth.

Advantage
Possibly a carapace joint from a modern crab claw.

Looks similar enough to ones I have from France and USA.

Coco
Hi, Right, that’s why I said "appendage" because I didn’t know what word to use. See on this link to recent Sepia orbibnyana : https://www.nature22.com/estran22/mollusques/cephalopodes/cephalopodes.html Coco Edited February 22, 2023 by Coco ---------------------- OUTIL POUR MESURER VOS FOSSILES : ici Ma bibliothèque PDF 1 (Poissons et sélaciens récents & fossiles) : ici Ma bibliothèque PDF 2 (Animaux vivants - sans poissons ni sélaciens) : ici Mâchoires sélaciennes récentes : ici Hétérodontiques et sélaciens : ici Oeufs sélaciens récents : ici Otolithes de poissons récents ! ici Un Greg...
