Tiny vertebra

Dino Dad 81

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

This tiny vert comes from the Lance formation in Weston co, Wyoming. It's about 0.25"x0.25"x0.25".

I'm wondering if the relatively large pleurocoel suggests that it's a tiny dromie.

For all I know, it's not even dinosaur.

Fossil Collect is spot on.  Not only is it a small champsosaur, but the texture tells me it is a very young one.  Great find.  The hourglass shape we see in your fifth photo is diagnostic of Ch verts.  The pleurocoel is a bit large for champsosaurs, but I wonder if gets smaller as they age.
