Age? I have no idea how old/what period it is from. It was found in a limestone quarry in midlands, uk, near stamforn. Was found in subsoil that was either quarry overburden or it was imported fill from somewhere nearby. Im afraid i have no more information for it.

But it weighs 69 grams

Any other specific questions that i maybe able to answer to help identify please ask.

I've seen plant matter (wood) in concretion that looked like this. Concretion need not contain fossils though. And often it is very difficult to identify the content.

Is "Stamforn" a typo??

Was the quarry Clipsham Bidwell?

I'm terrible at ID-ing, BTW.

So go ahead and pelt eggs & rotten vegetables at me: thick belemnite diagenetically altered?

Holcobelus or Hibolithes?
