This was labeled as a Phorusrhacid, possibly Bathornis and was found in the Brule Formation of South Dakota. Is that accurate?

I don't know enough about the birds of the White River to ID individual toe bones.  I don't know if anyone does.   Last I checked, though, Bathornis is in its own family, Bathornithidae, not phorusrhacid.  This may be a case of T rex syndrome... "let's call it something fierce and cool... and the value just went up".  It would not be a bad idea to ask them how they IDed it.  And yeah, ask them about the size.  It does certainly look like a bird toe bone.
