Found in Southern Ontario, late Ordovician. Would these be the fossilized burrows of the Brachiopods? Or just odd erosion? Note the trace fossils around the "Burrows".

They are probably interior and exterior molds (impressions) of shells and other creatures with hard shells that dissolved away.

Notice how the trace seems to penetrate the mold. The shells probably dissolved away relatively soon after burial.
