Weird shark vert(s?) - Peace River, Florida

Okay so found this very strange shark vert today. I think it’s shark, anyway. Doesn’t match any bony fish I know. But also doesn’t match any shark. Measures about an inch across and an inch long.

Could it be 3 shark verts fused together?

That was my initial thought hence the "Vert(s?)" in the title. But they don't seem to look like they were fused so much as it being one vert... I think. I'm really not sure.

It’s a very cool find! I think it’s what was originally 3 shark verts that have completely fused into one, at least that what it looks like to me. I think that’s possible due to injury, deformity, disease, etc. I remember seeing a video or picture a while back of 2 fused fossil shark verts that I think looked similar, but I’m unable to find it. Here are a couple modern examples of fused shark verts:

I agree that the specimen looks like three fused shark vertebrae based upon @TRout reply posted above.  I haven't seen any fossil examples of this before so it must be pretty rare.

I found the video with the fused fossil shark verts. From the Charleston area, South Carolina. Here’s a few screenshots from the video:

Nope. Shark verts are present but not very common at Montbrook. So far we've only had probably less than a couple dozen in total--far too few to include any novel pathological ones.

Cheers.
