Patrick K.
Hi all! Talk about pure luck, on my second trip to pit 11 ever, I found this crawfish(?)! It was in 3 pieces and I was lucky enough to find all 3. Needless to say I super excited…I’d have to guess it’s pretty a rare find. It cleaned up really well after a few 25% vinegar baths and the slightest brushing with a very soft artist paint brush. When it split at some point, part of the top didn’t separate with it, it was covering the tail which I reallllllly wanted to see . I noticed a small crevice on the side of the concretion and figured I might be able to get the imperfect separation to pop off. After a few partial freeze/thaws, that part popped off so I have full exposure of the body! I’d love an ID on this if anyone can help. Thanks in advance! I’ve read a bunch of threads on here about fossil prep and have learned a ton. Thanks for the kind words everyone! With only a few small plants and a bunch of Essexella in my collection I think I’ll have to have to temper my expectations for each trip out. Headed there today with my 16 year old daughter today - maybe a perfect Tully is in the future today?!? Lol

Those who work the hardest seem to have the best luck! It's all proportional to the time you put in. (Except in my case ) 1 Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
