I found these in the river behind my house. The river dried up more then it had in a least 22 years. The bottom was quite exposed. Does anyone know what these are?  I do know, they are not rocks. Thanks for any help you can give me.

They sure look like rocks to me. A fine grained conglomerate, and mudstone, or possibly marl. They could have been transported some distance, or the layers they came from may not be exposed at the surface.

Sorry but I’m with rockwood. These are regular rocks. No sign of bone, enamal, shell or anything fossil like that i can see.

These may look different than the other material/rocks in the river bed, but still,,,,,, just rocks.   Dont feel bad, mother nature has/can fool the best of us sometimes.

Can you show me a picture of a rock that matches any of my listed ones? Thanks, Ray

Another rocky opinion :) I agree with Rockwood's analysis. Now you know a few people who have seen rocks like this before.

Can you send me a picture of a rock that matches the ones I found? Thanks, Ray

You have found some fragmentary concretions.  But, keep in mind that rocks are like fingerprints, no two will look exactly the same.  See examples HERE & HERE.

If they aren't rocks, what do YOU think they are?
