fossillissof
Hello all! I was combing the beach in California and I came across these cool fossils but am not sure what they are! The first two pictures are of the same one. Can anyone help me ID them? Thanks!
Rockwood
I think the Bottom photo is palm wood.

Not this time; that's a bone fragment in a concretion. 1 3 The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ

I went with wood because the texture seemed a little too linear and uniform though. A close up of the end might help.
RJB
Need scale for first pic. Last pic is definitely bone. Most likely cetacean. Possibly rib. 1
Mark Kmiecik
The first two resemble crab claw. Mark. Fossil hunting is easy -- they don't run away when you shoot at them!
Carl
The second is absolutely bone. There are scads of whale bones on those beaches. This is very typical for how they look. The other specimen is hard to read. My gut says crab claw but it falls significantly short: sharp, well-lit close-ups are really needed here.
