Just an Enchodus? Cretaceous New Jersey

Hey all,

Could I get another set of eyes on this (circled tooth)? I found this probably 2 years ago at this point in the cretaceous exposed Big Brook.

I have had this labelled as "Enchodus" but relooking at it it seems a little off with my other Enchodus teeth.

Is this just a weathered Enchodus? Is it simply a different tooth than the fang and curved tooth pictured along side it? Or am I off by what fish this came from?

Appreciate the second set of eyes!

Looks like a Pristis sp. rostral spine

Interesting and I think you may be right.... though from my comparison here the rostral teeth from the same location have a "clear" portion along the tip that is missing here.

Does that waiver your thought or you still feel confident in Pristis?

Below is Ischyrhiza compared with Pristis

Aren't the other two rostral spines from a different genus, Ischyrhiza?

Those teeth are Ischyrhiza

My apologies - I did a search of Pristis saw it was a sawfish and blindly grabbed my sawfish teeth. You're correct.

Thanks all!

@A.C., you may want to compare with the teeth from Protosphyraena as well.
