I just bought this megalodon tooth online, and I was wondering if someone could help me out and see if it’s real.

My main concern are these notches/dents on the sides of the tooth (close to the root). It kind of makes it seem like it’s been molded. I’m not sure if this is natural or not.

I’d say that looks completely normal. Nice tooth

It looks like a fine example to me. If you are concerned about any portion of it formed with monkey business - apply a red hot needle. If it is of unnatural material, you may see a reaction. Good luck, have fun.

Those kind of crenulations/wrinkles .. and folds are completly normal (and not uncommon) on the larger teeth. But, it's always best to fully explore all of the visual possibilities and variances of any fossil before making a purchase.
