Is this a saber cat tooth or cat and what species

Hello I recently bought and fossil on online auction site the person said it was a saber cat tooth found in Africa.and I was wondering if it is and what species it is.

Yeah that looks like an Equine canine to me. Horse, Zebra, I think donkey as well are considered Equine? Also looks modern to me - but I know the fossils out of Africa are light colored, so grain of salt.

Hello Noelani and welcome to the forum.

Been there, done that.

from my own mistakes of the past the advice to you: There is a huge illegal market in recent animal parts from Afrika. If its not obviously fossil, rather keep away. 

In my case it was advertised as a pleistocene cave find camelid jaw, and when it arrived it still got some few hairs on it and an intense stench that clearly said Anthropocene.

If you can, try and get a refund.
