Found what might be a vertebra yesterday- let me know what yall think with these photos!

It looks like it’s about 2 and a half inches tall, or about 6.35 centimeters. It looks like it’s 2.56 centimeters long. Both are just my closest estimates, so take them with a grain of salt-

I'm inclined to think that this is a chunk of ammonite, particularly when traces of the sutures can be seen in the last photo.

The suture would rule out vertebra I think, but I'm going to say it is poorly preserved bone. 

Oops ! Just noticed the feature surrounding the suture. Ammonite it is.

Yup. Roger has good eyes (from years of experience) in spotting suture lines in ammonites. These are so distinctive that you can take this ID as certain. ;)

I, of course, totally agree that it's an ammonite. I just wanted to thank you for using the word vertebra as opposed to vertebrae!

Indeed. A singular/plural distinction that many people confuse--nice to see it used properly. ;)
