Dino Dad 81
Hi All, Having gotten an idea of what the outer texture of Nodosaurid osteoderms looks like from my last post, I'm wondering if this looks like one. It's from the Lance formation of Weston co, WY. I think there are two finished sides there and two cracked sides. Thanks!!
jpc
This one looks pretty tumbled. I am still leaning on frill chunk.
Dino Dad 81
@jpc The second pic is the most telling, in my opinion—I can’t imagine that pattern running much below the surface—but I’m no expert. And the veins on frill can run pretty deep (let alone none even showing on the surface). I know you said you’ve seen surface patterns like this on frill, but it must be pretty uncommon and more likely fit a nodosaurid, no? Are you going primarily based on shape alone? Do you have any particular nodosaurid osteoderm examples that give a good (less tumbled) example of what the surface should look like? Edited May 26 by Dino Dad

Dino Dad 81
Since I didn’t post any close ups, I just want to make sure you all didn’t miss the huge zoom-in capabilities. Here’s a crop from the second pic. (If I’m just dragging this out, sorry and no need to respond.) 1
Dino Dad 81
I know I said no need to respond if no news, but I just wanted to throw up this last call to make sure @Troodon saw that last pic (I know it's not possible to catch all these posts).
