Bones Found Arrowhead Hunting, Need Help!

I found these bones about 10 to 12 inches below the surface on an elevated overhang along the river at a local park. The picture shows 3 pieces, the third is not bone, I pulled it out from the ground inches from the bones and I couldn't even tell if it was just a strange stone or what. There was a black ashy substance falling away from beneath where I was pulling all these flakes of bone out, the only full bones I managed to find were this rib and large bone. Some of the pieces of bone I pulled out looked almost like wood on the surface, some like burnt wood. (Sorry about how clueless I sound on the natural appearance of bone when finding it, I'm normally only looking for rocks. (Arrowheads) Someone from the forum I post on for arrow points suggested this forum, any ideas? Thanks much in advance.

Welcome to the Forum! I believe the bone on the right in the first pic, is a calcanum(heel bone). If it was found in an area known for human relics, i'd guess that the tribe had horse stew that night.

Thank you very much for the information. It's nice to know that there are people out there that can identify any bones I find while searching for relics! The site also interests me very much, as I don't mind spending all day looking at rocks I feel I could get into this whole fossil thing as well, just seems like it might be much harder to find em!
