Roz
Lance and I hit Jacksboro this past Saturday. It is Finis Shale (Late Pennsylvanian/Virgilian Stage) Europe = upper Stephanian Series OH, I am going to add here that they just started charging 3 dollars to fossil hunt. You first drive to the state trailway road and pay the guy or if he's not there, take an envelope and put the money in the drop box. They just started this to help with maintaining their trailways. You enter at the usual place (Lost Creek Road) The first shot is a view of the site and a ground shot of some of the fossils.. Was so happy as I found my first teeth of these Welcome to the forum! JohnJ
OK, the teeth are very cool and all, but you are just teasing us with that small photo of the Agathiceras. The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
Roz
OK, the teeth are very cool and all, but you are just teasing us with that small photo of the Agathiceras. Why yes, no, it was so tiny.. I hope I gave it the correct name.. Welcome to the forum!
LanceH
I collected a few common fossils for my collection: Here's a pretty little brachiopod called Crurithyris planoconvexa: Then I hit pay dirt by finding one of my coolest fossils ever! Here's a banged up and broken but bascially complete Symmorium (aka Cladodus) shark tooth!! calciteguy
OOPS . . . I did not know about the charge to hunt. I just followed an old post about the site and crawled over the fence on Oct the 3rd. Wanted to hit that gray hillside but did not know if it was out of bounds so just did the flats. It was cool but WOW I'll go back looking for some of those cool teeth next time!! YOU DID GREAT Bill
Roz
Yes, most do not know because they just added the charge for fossil hunters too. For the 3 you can also use their bike trails and fish for the day.. You can hunt anywhere back there.. Thanks, the site has plenty of fossils and worth the charge... Welcome to the forum! barefootgirl
Great finds girl, you have some good eyes to see those. LanceH
We brought a bicycle with us in the back seat to make the half mile walk to the site a little easier. We only had the one bicycle so I rode it into the site and Roz rode it out of the site.

Roz
Nice What town or state park is this in Texas Second Picture Upper Right Do you know what that is? It's right outside of Jacksboro, Texas. They just have the state trailway (bikes & horses), and fishing. It's not much of a park.. Lost Creek is the name of the place. Oh yes, that's part of an ammonoid.. Welcome to the forum!
