Strange Chert Inclusion

found this yesterday and collected it with my camera...

not sure if its just a cross-section of a flowstone growth or fossilized remains of something..my money is on the former.

I know nothing about minerals or how they're formed - That being said,...

...Looks brachiopod-ish to me.

Neat looking as heck, whatever it is.:D

I didnt put a size indicator but its as long as a geology hammer! I dont think theres any brachs that big.

yes. inoceramids got up to like 4 feet or so, and bore a passing resemblance to your geological oddity.

dose it appears to be compressed with other material i have something similar but looks like its being crushed with all types of life under its sell.tara for now beck man:) post-4008-053100000 1288227089_thumb.jpg

I`ve seen such preservations aswell on Chert preserved Stromatholiths cross section...

Hmmm..you may be on to something.
