Sharkbyte
When I first joined, I thought I had to wait before being able to post pictures too but it was pointed out to me by a fellow Forum member that I was able to post pictures right out of the gate so I tried it and sure enough, it worked. If I'm wrong someone will correct me. Please give it a try so we can see what fossils you have found and welcome to the Forum from North Carolina. Bobby Nice baby megs guys! wRick
Is that from Lee Creek spoil pile material? Daryl. Yep, Bob (Makoboy) and I were supposed to meet up at Rocky Point to hunt for Rics and with all the rain they weren't letting anyone in. So, I diverted to Aurora and Bob managed to talk his way into one of the other quarries, where of course, he found MY Ric! And all I got was this tiny meg! wRick
You had a good idea starting this thread Hokie. I'm looking at that tiny tooth and comparing it to a much larger posterior (2 & 5/16") and its amazing to think of how much those sharks must have grown over their life span. Gonna have to figure out how to incorporate that into a display some day... From little acorns, mighty oaks are grown! Interpaleo
I noticed these awesome tiny megs and thought I'd add mine to the list. This was my first ever meg! It was quite the exiting experience when I realized it was a meg, even if it was a tiny one. I thought it was unique, but I see lots of other tiny megs have been found all over the country. Mine is from the middle Miocene Santa Margarita Formation that outcrops in Orange County, California. .33" Joe

isurus90064
Very nice. Some of these are not quite baby teeth, but rather extreme posterior positions. I'm sure most of us have seen artificial meg jaws (in person or in pictures). I wish someone would put together a jaw that gradated down to some of the sizes of teeth you guys are showing here. That should free up some space in the jaw which would probably give you a more realistic average megalodon jaw size. Beautiful stuff!
