It's no dinosaur...just a sloth :P. I've shown this one on here before. It's the most recent that I still have.

In a straight shot, I'd estimate the sloth took about 10 hours. But working on and off on it, it took me a bit over a week, I think. I can't remember exactly, as I did it about 2 years ago.

Thanks Shamus.

Haven't done much in a while, and am strictly an amatuer.

But it's fun to doodle when I have the time - which is too infrequently.;)

Thanks Jim.

Between work, fossils, kids, and a wife, time is tight.

I enjoy drawing and wood carving, but,... just finding the time!:wacko::unsure:

I think I need one of those 'Harry Potter time twister' things! ;)

I think Anthony needs to keep drawing! That Sloth is amazing! :D

It's all nice work to see, thanks for sharing it! I'd like to carve some wooden fossils fossildude19, a nice ammo on the end of a spoon, maybe...:)

Carmine,

Sounds like a great idea! :)

I was actually going to try to carve a trilobite, over the holidays.

I'll see if I can get the time to do that!

there's always something to do with that extra snow, too, I was thinking of a big trilobite carved in the snow.Maybe not while I carved this, but later I did, think of a trilobite.

All kidding aside, I just cut a nice block of alabaster out for a trilobite carving.:)

I even decided to carve a fake break in the moroccan trilobyte, just like the explosives probably shattered my original. It will look more real, I think...:)

Thanks, it's alot of fun.I can't wait to do the cephalon this afternoon.

I have some really cool soapstone/steatite, extra hard translucent grey green with lumps of iron in it, after the simple calymene, I'm itching to carve a nice greenops, hollardops, cornuproteus, or aristoharpes, carving is pretty addictive too, hehe.I already want to carve a whole set...:)

Carmine,

Where do you get your soapstone and alabaster from?

I'd like to try these mediums at some point.

Thanks,

Hey Tim, thanks,

I'll look up the suppliers, they are nice and a 25 lb box of either the hard Montana Steatite or the alabaster can be had from 35 to 50 a box, depending on colors.

Alabaster and Soapstone

and this ebay seller has great soapstone and alabaster, too

Outwest Trading

I"ve ordered from them numerous times...Carmine
