A Cretan Fossils Collection

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone.
Corals and oysters were my first finds when I was a child. After decades of searcing I'll present gradually my best finds starting from corals and oysters with the rest fossils following. With so many museum quality fossils flying proudly around here in TFF, I know that this topic and this material is not very popular and familiar to more of the TFF members, but I hope some people to like them.

The great majority of the fossils I've found and still finding come from the Late miocene deposits of my birth village of Panasos in the middle of Crete island, Greece (7 - 8 million years in age). Any exceprions will be followed by the relative info.
I have to express my appreciation and a hearty thanks to all those TFF members who kindly have helped or/and continue to help me mainly with the ids or with anything else.
Many - many thanks also to TFF for giving me this chance and to everyone for viewing.

Kind regards

Astrinos P. Damianakis

Those are really nice, large specimens. It is always good to see non-teeth fossils on the forum.

:) Apollo!!!

What a pleasant surprise to take your post while in preparation to give you a message on your problem. I saw it accidentally a little ago and my feelings were mixed. Unpleasant if this have happened, but pleasant if it was a small insident wich can be confronted succesfuly by today's available means. I have an aunt with an alike case and she passed it over in total. So, I do wish and I do believe that you are already better and that after not a long time you will recover completely.

You have just to take more care of yourself ;)

Best regards

Astrinos

Thanks again Sott for your GREEK enthousiasm :)

Just to clarify that when awakened by my wife, I hadn't fallen into a deep sleep, but I was hypnotized by the magic world of your collection :D

I wish I was Apollo!! (For those who are wondering, my real name is Delos. Google it.)

Thanks for your kind words. I have recovered almost 100%. Current theory is that my blood clots too easily. Heart tests were all good. I have started taking a lot better care of myself (loss of 17 pounds so far. What is that in kilos? 6.?) Del
