astron
I've Been enjoying your collection Astron, can't wait to see what you find this spring. Thanks Bob . Accordingn to a saying ''The good things come with delay''. The bad in this case is I don't know if it will be good at all... We have to see first when the time comes... Astrinos P. astron
At this point I have to express my excuses for the missing ids of the presenting plant material. I am in difficulties as I have not any bibliography to be advised. So I try it trough articles or anything else. Hopefully I will put it gradually when found. Here are bush - grass branches. astron
Most of those gasteropods are early pliocene, and some Miocene ones.I can ID some. Let me some time and I will send you the names... ...Or Pliocene! I`ve got a smaller one from Italy, and it is a typicall early Pliocene fossil. In the Pleistocene, it was substituted by Strombus Bubonius. Hi Moropus and welcome back again It's really great to devote enough of your reduced spare time on this thread and for this important reason you have my appreciation and many thanks . The age of my finds has been brouhgt and other times on the table.I have transered here your answer on my topic to the id section ''Odd conch id'' as relative to the theme. I always refer that all my fossils are in the late miocene for the next reasons: 1)All my fossils were found in my birth area in middle Crete island, wich is about 10 km long and about 1 km wide. Two characteristics of this area are the gypsum and the cimented sand layers. 2)In the book of Fassoulas C.''Field guid to the geology of Crete'' my area, the gypsum layers and the cimented sand are refered as late miocene. 3)In the article http://www.uni-graz....r/Brachert2.pdf, my area is clearly refered as late miocene as it's seemed on the map B. 4)In the article http://www.uni-graz....202009_PalZ.pdf my area is clearly refered as late miocene, as it's seemed on the right map of Fig.1. 5)My strombus was found into cimented sand 5 m far from a big clypeaster. So the cimented sand as the clypeasters of this area are everywhere refered as late miocene. For the resaons mentioned I am fairly convinced that all my fossils are of the late miocene. Many thanks again for your help Best regards Astrinos Edited April 3, 2011 by astron Astrinos P. Damianakis
