wRick
Hey everyone, It seems alot of members collect shark teeth, So lets see the monsters of your collections! Go ahead and share your 3" + shark teeth! Meg- 3.11" SC Otodus- 3" Morocco Well, I can't compete with some of the “MONSTER MEGS” around here, but, since you didn’t set the bar too high, only 3”… Here’s one that will always have a special place in my collection. I had gone to Venice, Fl , and planned to dive for fossils. I chatted up one of the locals, telling him how I had been searching for shark teeth on the beach there since I was five and finally, over three decades later, I was back to do some SCUBA diving. I think this young spear fisherman was bemused by me: some “old guy” who desperately wanted to find a Meg. So, he tells me: Him: “Do you know where @#$%%^^ beach is?” Me: “Yes, of course!” Him: “OK, go there, look for three ???s, there's a ________ to the "insert random direction" of them, stand in front of it. Him: “Do you have a compass? Good, while you stand in front of the ________ to the "insert random direction" of the three ???s, take a bearing of XYZ degrees.” Him: “Walk into the water following that compass bearing and keep swimming on that bearing and you will hit the best fossil bed you can get to diving from shore.” Me: “Thanks man! Thanks a lot! I really appreciate it!” Him: “Yeah, no problem. By the way, here’s the number for my friend Captain____. You’re not gonna find anything diving from the beach, call him and set up a charter if you really want to find some teeth!” I went to @#$%%^^ beach, located the three ???s, stood on the ________, took a bearing of XYZ degrees, and walked into the water. I was just putting on my face mask when I realized,… Oh SH….T I forgot to take my glasses off! I planted my feet firmly in the sand, maintained my compass heading, stuffed my glasses into my goodie bag, donned my mask, and started swimming. I followed that compass heading at about 2 feet off the bottom for the longest time... Nothing but sand. Then, the sand gave way to a dark grey clay that was “dissolving” into the water column making a kind of silty fog along the bottom. I kept checking the compass heading and swimming into the cloud, when, … There, about five feet in front of me,.. Could it be? .... Yes! It is! My first Meg, 4.5”+ ! "There is no difference between Zen and Purgatory and Time Warner Cable, and they are trying to tach me this, but I am a dim impatient pupil." ----- xonenine

tracer
to have found a first meg of that size and quality is a really, really good thing. seems like you should print out your story of finding it and put it with it so that it won't be lost. things are made much more special by having their stories with them.
