sixgill pete
Okay forum members, those of you coming into town for the Aurora Fossil Fest on this weekend, how about a side trip on friday to the Martin Marietta quarry in Rocky Point. The quarry is located near Wilmington, about 2 hours south of New Bern. We can all meet up and carpool. You can collect there normally every friday between about 9 am and 4 pm. finds there sometimes include some nice Auriculitus, along with other teeth, gastropod, echnoids, croc, whale and lots of other stuff. Like the Lee Creek mine you will need a hard hat, safety shoes, long pants and plenty of water. It is my favorite Martin Marietta quarry. Lets See a Show of Hands!!! Daryl McEwen
Hey, thanks for the heads up on this! We'd love to join (Carissa and I). I've never been to the Rocky Point quarry and haven't been able to make it out for quite a while now, so I'm putting everything in to making this one. Should be a lot of fun also going with a forum group. I'll keep ya updated and probably PM with some questions. Daryl

sixgill pete
OK everyone. What we need to do is figure out,1)-where is everyone staying if you are coming into town for the festival 2)- where to meet if everyone would please drop me a pm and let me know where you are staying so we can figure this out. I will confirm that we can in fact get in the mine as soon as possible and then we can make some firm plans.
