Its been a few months since I started digging around and meeting people. I have have recently met one of my goals, find a fish in SoCal. They are pretty ugly but, still cool for a first time find.

No way is that ugly! Gnarly, maybe, but no self-collected fossil is ugly ;)

I have to agree, ... they're not ugly,.. at all.

Very cool finds! Do you know what species at all? :)

Thanks for posting them.

Good luck on any future hunts! ;)

Thanks guys! I love my ugly fish, LOL

No clue on the species, just happy have even found them. A woman who found a fish there with me had a real clean looking fossil. Looked very similiar to a modern day herring to me.

I would be thrilled to find those! Nice fossils.

A long time ago, I collected a small fish similar to those at Jalama Beach State Park, near Lompoc. I have no idea what formation/age, and I lost the fish moving back east.
