That's a great find, neat tooth!!! I've got a few patho teeth, I'll post later.

Here's one my nephew found in the Aurora reject piles, looks like a deformed

G. contortus anterior.

Thanks,

Eddie

I really like pathological or deformed teeth for some reason, and

those both are cool looking. The only one I thought might be deformed,

I found out, might not be but some kind of deposit on it.... disappointing

Will have to keep looking..

Hey, bmorefossil, that is true. I posted mine on here somewhere on a past post,

but hard to see because the tooth is so dark. I am going to get better pic and then post....

Cool teeth!

Here are some patho teeth I have:

1) Split tip Carcharinus tooth. Found this one myself walking out of the mine after

a lousy day of collecting.

2) Another split tip Carcharinus tooth (dusky or bull).

3) Weird little Isurus.

4) Late ric/early angy from NC river. Flattened root, odd bend and serrations on one

edge not developed due to pathology.

5) Florida auriculatus, severely bent blade tip.

Deformed megs in next post...

Deformed megs:

1) I call this the "pancake tooth." Very strange tooth, it's 4" long and very wide.

2) 3" meg, greenish/red and wavy/stunted blade.

Let's see some more deformed teeth!

Thanks,

Eddie

Here are a few of mine: An Auriculatus from VA. Very narrow with 1 cusp that never formed and neither did serrations near it. Second is a split tip C egertoni(?) and finally is my most grotesque Otodus. This thing, other than the obvious, has several tiny tips all over the end of it. It also has that big growth on the root just for icing on the cake. Eddie, that first contortus split tip is AMAZING.

Those are some very nice example eddie :D I have a few pathological teeth myself.

1. A severely deformed hemi from Lee Creek. From the Yorktown Formation

2. Another nice hemi. Nicely bent tip and wavy serrations near the edge. From the Pungo River Formation

3. Isurus hastalis. Wavy blade. From the Yorktown Formation.

4. A bent tip Carcharias taurus. Yorktown Formation.

5&6.Two nicely deformed modern Tiger shark teeth.

Enjoy! :D

Thanks. Those are some neat hemis! I like that triangular one.

I don't think that modern tiger shark tooth (the one on the left) is deformed. It looks like an

anterior tooth to me. I have one just like it. :)

Thanks for the pics!

Thanks,

Eddie

Thanks eddie. I was a little iffy about that one too, but I wasn't sure. The one on the right though is a really nice one. It has something of the sort like a deep groove in the root. That might be from a fishing hook, but who knows?

*****Update*****

I just looked over the one on the left, and it has some abnormal serrations and growths on the blade, so I'm not sure. eddie, does your tooth have any growths on the blade?

Thanks. My nephew found that split tip G. contortus tooth. I was tempted to tell him it was broken and he should

let me have it. :) Just kidding, I told him to put that somewhere very safe!

That's a neat auriculatus. It's interesting how the serration development is affected by some of these deformities.

And that Otodus is like the Elephant Man of shark teeth!

Thanks,

Eddie

Possibly a fishing hook, feeding damage, biting on another tooth... could be anything. Tiger sharks eat

all sorts of hard stuff!

I don't see any abnormal serrations/growths on my anterior tooth, here are some pics. Neat teeth you have, btw, whether they are "abnormal" or not!

Thanks,

Eddie

Here is my only one. I think it's deformed, it's the only one I have ever found like it.

(My pictures look like poo compared to others on here. I need to work on my photos!!)
