i was thinking we have it sometime in October, im getting a job soon so i dont know if it will effect the trip any. I know there are a bunch of people who wish they could have made the trip but couldnt or just want to come this time. I just wanted to throw this out now to get anyone who is interested an idea of whats going on, im still not sure if we will do the trip in the week or on the weekend and depending on the amount of people i may or may not be able to use the boat. This is really rough and i will get things a little easier soon.

Thanks again

New member here but would love to join up. Any day, I like the Sat/Sun idea. I've fished there often and run a 17 foot center console. Happy to bring it along to reach some of the less accesable areas.

Welcome to the Forum!

Inaccessible=good fossiling, more than one boat=fewer shuttle runs=more time fossiling.

I'm supposed to be in South Carolina for work from Mid-October thru beginning of December. If I can make it, I will.

I like the way you think. I'll keep an eye on this forum for dates. As I said, any day pretty much is good for me.

Priorities, man, priorities! Just phone into work and tell them that "the voices told me to stay home and clean my guns". Works every time! :P

Hehehe. I would but I have too much responsibility this time around.

If worst comes to worst then I'll have a solo trip to Calvert Cliffs in December. Brrrrrrr!

Haven't seen any more activity on this trip (Calvert Cliffs). Who decides the dates? Has anyone on this site gone to Aurora N.C. I've never been but would enjoy going there as well. I understand you have to have a group/club to get escorted onto the site. Any interest by others?

Thanks for the help OB1. I sent a request. I'll keep everyone posted on what I hear. Then I'll have to scare up a small group.

You should go, it's AWESOME!

Well, the best way to get a slot is with a club but you can email Curtis Ormond at cormond@pcsphosphate.com and see if he will let you have a slot. If you have a small number of people going with you you can request that amount. Maybe you could try to get a Fossil forum group to go in? You can always request a slot by yourself though and they normally will work you in. You don't have to be a part of a club but it helps. You just have to show up at 7:00 in the parking lot of the mine and a bus will drive you in. They have guides that go with you to make sure everyone stays safe. If you do get a spot you'll need a hard hat and steel toed shoes. It's one of their rules. If you want to know more you can check out elasmo.com

I wouldn't mind going to Calvert. It all depends on if I'm working or nota nd if I have any projects for college. Also I'll be unavailable for most of Oct because I'll have weddings on most of those weekends and one week I'll be away in England. A weekend in Sept. would be better for me but if not that's ok. I'm sure there will be other times. Let me know. I also was wondering where we'd all meet up to go on the boat.

Seems like there's not a lot of activity around this trip. I'm chompin to get down there again, let's pick a date. I think the only way to do this is to pick a date and let everyone work around it, instead of trying to pick a date that works for everyone. I can't believe that'll ever work. Let's say 1st weekend in October. Anyone have any comments let's hear them, it'll be October before you know it. As I said, I'll bring my boat, I can carry three and myself. It's a half hour run by boat to the cliffs from where I launch. First three to respond I'm in gets a spot on the boat, that simple. A second boat and we're all in the "good" spots.

I'm in! Pick a date and I'm there.

I am planning on walking the entire length of the cliffs on one of the Winter blow out days when they come around. Hoping to find all the good spots for big teeth. It will be more of a brisk walk and keeping an eye out for the big stuff rather than slow walking and picking everything up.

I was wanting to make the last trip but was not able to go. Would love to make the fall trip also, but got to wait and see if and when my Aurora trip is. Can't wait to add some Calvert fossils to my collection.

I wrote to the guy at Aurora about getting a date, no response. I'm bummed.
