LordTrilobite
A while ago I bought a replica of a juvenile Psittacosaurus. And only recently have I finally gotten around to paint it. So I thought I'd share some pictures. When I got the thing in the mail I immediately started on a frame to display the skeleton. When that was done I stood a while between my other dinosaurs unpainted. Here are some pictures of the painting process. The idea was to put on three layers of paint, dark, middle and light for a dirty and weathered look. Here are the first two layers of paint. And a close up of the skull with the second layer. And here is the final result with all three layers. A close up and overview. I've never done a project like this before. But I like how it turned out. 2 Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

The aggressive posture is a little odd for a plant eater, but I like it . Nandomas
Lord Trilobite, have you nener seen the Frankfurt specimen with brisle-like structure araising from the base of the tail? If not, give me the time to find a picture of it in my HD Erosion... will be my epitaph! http://www.paleonature.org/ https://fossilnews.org/

flyguy784
I love it. May I ask where you bought it and what did you pay for it?
LordTrilobite
The unpainted unmounted replica cost me 500 euros. And I bought it at http://www.dinocasts.com/ They have a wide range of replicas and their customer service is really good. jpc
Nice job. I am not a skilled painter, so can I ask why you stared with such a dark coat? Why not just start with the tan color?
LordTrilobite
The skeleton has a lot of hard to reach places, so I wanted to make sure every nook was coloured. If I would have started with a lighter colour this would have been a lot more difficult to do later on. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

LordTrilobite
For the paint I used DecorFin. It's a waterbased paint. It's been years now, but for the colours I think I used dark brown, terra and skincolour as the three main layers for this.
