twisteddendrite
Not far from where I live (near Lake Tenkiller) in eastern Oklahoma, I found this place where some large limestone had been exposed from putting in the road. I am amazed at the number of blastoids in this rock. I pick up whole loose blastoids every trip. I have circled some of the blastoids in case you can not see them. If anyone is ever in the area I would be happy to show the area.
tracer
wow, i'll bet you get some fast takers on the offer to show that special place. hopefully you've gotten what you want from it already. most people don't post such amazingly rich localities. i wouldn't mind seeing some more close ups of the fossils in place in the rock if you get the time to post them. regards, tracer
Uncle Siphuncle
Very cool. Interesting how Texas has seemingly been passed over in the Blastoid Dept..... Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils."

ashcraft
We have alot of blastoids in our Mississipian outcrops. It seems where you find them, you find a bunch of them. Whatever adaptations made them dominant in that niche must have been pretty specific. Brent Ashcraft ashcraft, brent allen

ashcraft
Hi Brent That reminds me of something you recently posted... Next time you find some of those golf ball size blastoids, put a nice one aside for me I took my students to the quarry at Star Lanidng in Perry county, home of the large blastoids. One of them may have found one embedded in rock, with its tail end exposed. It is on my prep list. I give bonus points for such things. He got ten. ghost1066
I could send you some. There are some in your county according to This. Thanks Jim. Yes there are some here but where they are located isn't accessible and there isn't much of that segment. It is only at the top of the highest hills normally and to be honest I don't even know where I could get to any of it. How about in the Ft Payne? I can get to more of it. My parents live a few counties below you . Fossils are simply one of the coolest things on earth--discovering them is just marvelous! Makes you all giddy inside! Rosalena Mellowbug
Went to lake tenkiller last weekend...cherokee landing. I looked around there for anything of interest but no luck. I've been collecting blastoids that I've collected from the Hulbert area. Where is the location of this area you found, with the blastoids? I'd like to get out that way again soon. Thanx
