Organ Pipe Coral Clump...or Something Else?

Recommended Posts

I found this a few years ago in the Finger Lakes area of NY. Pretty sure it's Devonian, and have always called it a clump of coral. It weighs probably 5 pounds. The closest so far I have come to seeing something similar is some pictures from Falls of the Ohio, and a few other random pictures, but no real closeups. Any one confirm for me, or have other ideas?

I definitely see some long rugose coral but there is either colonial coral or sponge (stromatoporoid), mixed in your description of a clump of coral is pretty close, and the comparison to coral from the Falls of the Ohio is pretty good too.
