It may be helpful to provide a few more pictures including showing the broken ends. I wonder if it might not be plant related. Just a thought really. I don't know what it is but maybe someone will have the answer you are looking for. FossilDAWG Posted February 10, 2012 Share Posted February 10, 2012 (edited) It's the impression of a nautiloid, possibly Dawsonoceras. Not "animal ribs" in the vertebrate rib sense, but a long tapering shell, round in cross-section, and encircled by ridges.
