jonjunk
This one came from an estate sale... with no information. Any guesses? It has a beautiful golden sheen of pyrite.
araucaria1959
Please show pictures from the other side. I have a very similar specimen (Dactylioceras commune, also with pyrite, from the Lias epsilon of Whitby/England), but the surrounding material of my specimen is darker (dark grey). It can help if you show the opposite side of the stone. araucaria1959
Kosmoceras
Yes, that seems correct to me.

jacob
I would say the same again, have you tried cracking open that nodule?
araucaria1959
Thank you for the new pics. Now it's plausible (even the colour of the sediment) as already mentioned: Dactylioceras commune from Whitby/England. I bought a similar one more than 40 years ago! araucaria1959
