Elasmosaurus Teeth In Morocco?

Recommended Posts

Khouribgha, Morocco is a treasure trove of fossils, especially in reptilian teeth.

Recently I came to acquire an Elasmosaurus tooth from Khouribgha, Morocco. However, I am not aware if that place actually yields Elasmosaurus fossils.

is it more likely I have a mis-identified Plesiosaurus mauritanicus tooth?

Looking forward to meeting my fellow Singaporean collectors! Do PM me if you are a Singaporean, or an overseas fossil-collector coming here for a holiday!

My money would be on the Plesiosaurus mauritanicus.

That is something I am wondering about too.

I have done an extensive search on google, as well as ebay and many fossil-selling sites.

Plesiosaur teeth from Khouribgha, Morocco are always sold either as Plesiosaurus mauritanicus or Elasmosaur sp. They never identify the exact species of Elasmosaur, and the teeth looks very simialr to Plesiosaurus mauritanicus that I can't help but wonder if they come from the same animal.
