Synechodus
Last Saturday I drove my wife to a training course some 250 Kms from home and my son, the dog and I grabbed the opportunity to visit a quarry with outcrops of the Cenoman in nearby Germany. Despite blasting on the preceding day, we did not find very much. My son was hoping for some big Austeniceras austeni ammonites of up to 60 cm, but alas. We did manage to find some nice echs, though: two Holasters and one that I thinks will turn out to be an Echinocorys below all the matrix. All in all we did not do too bad on a first visit to this quarry. Enjoy! The entry into the quarry Wraf, wraf....."He, look here you guys!"..... wraf, wraf Scrambling around My son asked me to turn over this huge slab, which I succeeded in, if barely, only to find this somewhat damaged Holaster. Another Holaster, this time just lying there in the open Part of the outcrops What I think will turn out to be an Echinocorys Just look at this picture and tell me there is no evolutionary link between dogs and mountain goats! Uncle Siphuncle
Very interesting and quite similar to hunting echies and ammonites in TX. Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils."
Synechodus
Yeah, know what you mean. Being there reminded me of a trip to the Duck Creek outcrops in the DFW-area with Jax. Roz
I love quarries. Looks like that is one of your ech spots. Your dog does have the look of a small mountain goat! Welcome to the forum!
Auspex
Just look at this picture and tell me there is no evolutionary link between dogs and mountain goats! Convergent evolution, mostly seen in the pets of fossil hunters.
