Morning everyone. I finally got around to my trip report from my trip to the Waldron shale in south central indiana. The quarry we get into is extremely generous to the collectors of the site and we always have incredible luck and I find and see new things everytime from this extremely well preserved fauna of the Middle Silurian aged shale.

If you want a look around at the site look here http://www.thefossil...__fromsearch__1

On wards to the fossils.

Id like to shout out to Crinoid Queen, Platecarpus, and Rob Russel for going along to the quarry with me and having the best time. The diversity of this quarry always surprises me. Thanks everyone for looking and thanks to St Paul Stone for letting the club get access.

In my next post ill briefly post about my trip to St Leon and in the coming weeks ill post my Crawfordsville crinoids i found with Crinoid queen.

Could this be Reciptaculites?

I wondered if perhaps you'd be there Rob. I remember you posting a cephalo from your visit last year. If their's another trip possibly in the fall I'm In!

Very nice collection.

Finding things like the 'unknown object' make my day.

Context is critical.

I was hoping to make it but i had some family obligations. I did have a chance to collect some Waldron material in March. I will start a new topic and post a few rarer trilobites i collected.

Those are such beautiful fossils. Does one have to join ESCONI to get in? It would certainly be worth it! Even though I'm not sure I'd be able to make the drive (about 8 hrs) unless I had a lot of notice. The Waldron Shale is pretty high up on my "bucket list".

Hey Don. Their was a gentleman there who wasn't a member. That's all I know about that, but the dues are only a $20 a year to join. I'm four hours away, so I drove down the afternoon before, stayed two nights for about a hundred bucks, and returned home early the following morning. Well worth the cost for the opportunity to hunt such beautifully preserved inverts!

For $20, I'd be happy just to support the organization. If it wasn't for groups like ESCONI, we'd likely never be able to get access to some of these sites.
