snolly50
Here is another 3D fossil in a Mazon nodule. I am intrigued by the squared-off "stem." Does anyone know what it is? Auspex
I think the vein stem appears square because of how it broke (Some is still in the counterpart). Am I correct that the large half here is about an inch long? If so, the appearance of extra-high relief might be enhanced by the scale (though they are still more 3-D than average). snolly50
Auspex, Thanks for the observations. Yes, the grid is 1", bold line to bold line. The small nodule section is a little over 1/2", while the larger counterpart is about 1". Fossildude19
I've been trying to look through RCFossils galleries of Mazon finds to come up with a match. No luck yet, but maybe he will chime in! Cool find, though! Can't wait to see what it is finally id'd as. Herb
It looks to me like the very end of a fern frond, maybe Pecopteris or Alethopteris. Not much detail on the fossil kind of hard to say.
